Environmental (Mining) LicenseIn the Northern Territory, mining operations are regulated under the Mining Management Act 2001 (NT). An Environmental (Mining) Licence (EML) is the primary instrument used to ensure mining activities meet strict environmental and compliance requirements.
An EML sets clear, enforceable conditions for how a project is managed, including environmental protection, waste management, monitoring, and site rehabilitation. It works alongside the approved Mining Management Plan (MMP), providing a transparent and accountable framework for responsible mining. Through the EML, operators are required to actively manage environmental risks, report on performance, and meet ongoing regulatory obligations, ensuring mining is conducted safely, sustainably, and in line with Northern Territory standards. An Environmental (Mining) License (EML) is the primary tool for managing compliance with the Mining Management Act 2001. Depending on what activity is being carried out specific EML's apply. Below are the three EML's that are utilized as part of our Mining Authority 0331-04 |
